BATTLE OF ALMA lost one length. RETURN TO THE SUN was bumped outwards approaching the 600m by BATTLE OF ALMA, which rolled out. CUMBERLAND had to steady at the 200m off the heels of THRUST, which shifted out sharply and was immediately straightened. Jockey Simons was charged with a contravention in that he, as the rider of THRUST, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to CUMBERLAND when he shifted out at approximately the 200m. Jockey Simons signed an Admission of Guilt and a penalty of a Warning was imposed. The Board when coming to the penalty of a Warning, took into account that THRUST had made a sudden movement outwards and had given Jockey Simons no indication that it was about to do so. Jockey Maleking reported that NEWS FLASH took no interest in running. THRUST was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: NEWS FLASH - coughing. Scratched: PAULUS - lame right front.
