RAMOAN (*L J Ferraris) was slow losing one length.
NUSSPLY (P Strydom) jumped inwards leaving the stalls.
ASH (S Brown) was restless in the stalls, thereafter was slow losing one length. Jockey D Schwarz reported that HOUSE MASTER made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Jockey R Simons (GREY POWER) and Jockey C Maujean (WESTERN PARK) reported their mounts were coughing in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these geldings. Leaving the 100m NUSSPLY (P Strydom) which had been ridden in from approximately the 200m shifted in away from FOREVER LIGHT (*K Matsunyane) which hung in from the 400m.
An objection was lodged by the Rider (P Strydom) of the third placed horse NUSSPLY against the second placed horse FOREVER LIGHT (*K Matsunyane) on the grounds of intimidation from the 300m. After considering the evidence in this matter, the Board overruled the objection. In arriving at this decision, the Board considered that there was independent inward movement from NUSSPLY. Consequently the Board could not be satisfied that NUSSPLY would have finished ahead of FOREVER LIGHT, therefore it overruled the objection and allowed the Judge's result to stand. Jockey Strydom's deposit was refunded. Members of the Objection Board gave careful consideration to withholding Jockey Strydom's deposit as they were of the opinion that there was not a realistic chance of success and the objection was unwarranted. However given the current state of racing with regard to the Covid-19 lockdown and the financial impact on the role players, the Board decided to refund the objection fee.
LORD GRANTHAM (B Nyawo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee R van Wyk advised (DR).
ROOIPOORT was ridden by Apprentice C F Dicken who claimed a 2,5kg allowance (declared 9 July 2020 at 08H38).
LORD GRANTHAM raced without a tongue tie (declared 8 July 2020 at 08H34).
