PANNA COTTA (S Moodley) lost one length. HOWSTHEVIEW (G van Niekerk) over-raced in the early stages. WHISKEYDORO (N Patel) over-raced in the early stages and compounded in the straight. PANNA COTTA (S Moodley) shifted out sharply at the top of the straight. At the 600m, SCENTED MISTRESS (S Veale) switched out, raced around the field and to the outside rail at the 400m. At the 300m, ELUSIVE CURRENT (W Kennedy) was carried in by LEGEND HAS IT (*K Sakayi) which was hanging in from the 400m. KAVIAN'S CARA (*T Gumede) shifted in away from the crop from the 200m. In view of the performance of ANOTHER LOVE (D Dillon) (6.15 lengths, 33/20 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer Gareth van Zyl was advised to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of this filly on return to stables. Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse SCENTED MISTRESS more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey S Veale the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey S Veale struck the horse SCENTED MISTRESS, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey S Veale used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R750 was imposed. Trainer Gavin van Zyl signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 8.3.1, in that he failed to ensure that the owners colours were available for the horse ELUSIVE CURRENT. A penalty of a warning was imposed. KAVIAN'S CARA (*T Gumede), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer N Kotzen advised (TN).
