KAPELLMEISTER was bumped leaving the 400m by ROCK ME VAR, which was carried in by VULCAN, which was hanging in. Thereafter ROCK ME VAR was awkwardly placed between KAPELLMEISTER and VULCAN, which rolled in marginally. An objection was lodged by Assistant Trainer Azzie on behalf of the fourth placed horse, ROCK ME VAR, against both the winner, KAPELLMEISTER, and the third placed horse, VULCAN, on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. The Objection Board, after giving regard to the evidence put forward by the connections and viewing the patrol films, was of the opinion that but for the interference ROCK ME VAR would not have finished in front of KAPELLMEISTER and VULCAN and therefore overruled both objections and allowed the judges' result to stand. Assistant Trainer Azzie's objection deposit fee was refunded. KAPELLMEISTER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. FINCHATTON raced equipped with alumite shoes.
