THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO THE 30-MINUTE INTERVAL. GAELEBALE (M Thackeray) was slow into stride. SECRET DREAM (M van Rensburg) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. SMOKE (*C F Dicken) stumbled shortly after the start. EARTH SHAKER (S Brown) over raced in the early stages. At approximately the 1200m WHAT A STORY (C Bantam) was bumped outwards by GONNAFLY (*K Matsunyane) which shifted out sharply to avoid running on to the heels of ROCK THE GLOBE (D De Gouveia). Jockey M Thackeray reported that GAELEBALE took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. PUTONTHEREDLIGHT(*L J Ferraris), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer E Lerena advised (GF). In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning EARTH SHAKER, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer K Roux advised. Rule 49.7 applies. In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning GAELEBALE, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended indefinitely for a full veterinary report and gallop and from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer C Mayhew advised. Rule 49.7 applies. PUTONTHEREDLIGHT raced without blinkers (declared 12 July 2020 at 08H16). VET : EARTH SHAKER bilateral epistaxis, recommended 60-day suspension. Trainer K Roux advised (NHA). SMOKE abnormal respiratory noise. GAELEBALE lame left hind. Recommended indefinite suspension for a full veterinary report and gallop. Trainer C Mayhew advised (NHA).
