THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO THE 30-MINUTE INTERVALS BETWEEN RACES WHICH LED TO THE LATE ARRIVAL OF THE HORSES AT THE START AND THE STARTING STALLS HAVING TO BE POSITIONED.
CROWN GUARDIAN (C Maujean) and COUNTRY SQUIRE (*C F Dicken) were slow losing one length. ARAPAHO (S Brown) was squeezed out shortly after the start. Shortly after the start ARAPAHO (S Brown) was buffeted between NAAFER (AUS) (R Simons) which jumped out and GREEN GUNSTON (M van Rensburg) which jumped in.
At approximately the 400m Jockey van Rensburg became dislodged from GREEN GUNSTON (M van Rensburg) which stumbled badly and fell.
COUNTRY SQUIRE (*C F Dicken) hung in from the 200m.
Jockey D Schwarz reported that he felt something amiss with LAND OF THE BRAVE in running and he did not persevere with his ride from the 200m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
Jockey S Khumalo (CAPTAIN HINDSIGHT) accidently dropped his crop at the 150m.
CAPTAIN HINDSIGHT (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A B Fortune advised (DR).
In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning LAND OF THE BRAVE, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer C Binda to be advised.
LAND OF THE BRAVE raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind (declared 8 July 2020 11H05).
NAAFER (AUS) raced with a tongue tie on (declared 12 July 2020 at 08H07).
LAND OF THE BRAVE raced equipped with cheek pieces (declared 14 July 2020 at07H19.
