THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO THE DELAY IN THE PREVIOUS RACE. TOUCH OF FATE (C Habib) was slow into stride. GARDEN PARTY (C Maujean) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. Jockey S Khumalo reported that he felt something amiss with PACIFIC WINTER in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. Jockey R Simons reported that STARFLASH took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Shortly after the start TOUCH OF FATE (C Habib) had to steady to avoid the heels of CAPTAINS FORT (J Greyling) who was bumped out by GARDEN PARTY (C Maujean) which jumped outwards. KINGS ROAD (D Schwarz) hung out from the 500m, proving difficult to assist. PILLAROFTHEEARTH (R Danielson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee C Botha, acting on behalf of Trainer R R Magner, advised (AH). In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning PACIFIC WINTER, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this colt is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority.
