BELOVED COUNTRY was slow into stride. MISS VARLICIOUS and CHESTNUTS N PEARLS were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. MISS VARLICIOUS jumped inwards at the start, resulting in TIPTOL being squeezed out losing two lengths. PEARL EMBLEM stumbled on two occasions leaving the starting stalls and was slow into stride, almost dislodging Apprentice Balloo resulting in his left foot slipping out of the stirrup iron which he only regained approaching the 1000 metre mark. MISS VARLICIOUS was hanging in throughout. Jockey Delpech reported that BELOVED COUNTRY was not striding out freely in running. In view of the performance of AFRICAN DREAM, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. Vet: BELOVED COUNTRY - not striding out left hind. AFRICAN DREAM - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: RAVISHING LILLY - elevated temperature. RASTA'S JET - insufficient recovery time.
