WOLFGANG (S Veale) and KINGSMEAD (S Moodley) lost 1 length, respectively. WOLFGANG (S Veale) and WINTER BLUES (C Zackey) were squeezed out shortly after the start. Jockey G van Niekerk signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse SO VAR more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey G van Niekerk, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey van Niekerk struck the horse SO VAR, the distance over which and manner in which Jockey G van Niekerk used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a warning was imposed. Jockey G van Niekerk signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline C, in that he struck the horse SO VAR more than 3 times on consecutive strides in the concluding stages. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. SO VAR (G van Niekerk) was hanging in in the straight. Jockey C Zackey reported that WINTER BLUES (3.45 lengths) did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. COLDHARDCASH (M Yeni) the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D Howells advised (ML). BINDI raced fitted with alumites both fore and unshod behind (advised 15h05/09.07.2020). COLDHARDCASH raced fitted with a cornell collar. SO VAR raced fitted with a cornell collar.
