During the loading process the gates opened and the two horses already loaded MEGAMIND and SIR HENRY jumped and were pulled up about 200m after the start. Both horses returned to the start, were checked by the Veterinary Surgeon and declared fit to race, causing a delay. CAPSTONE VON KLUH jumped awkwardly and thereafter was slow into stride. ROYAL FLYING CORPS was restless in the stalls. Jockey Cormack reported that he felt something amiss with SIR HENRY and did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. Apprentice Carstens reported that ELITE JET did not stride out freely in running. CAPSTONE VON KLUH was accidentally struck on the nose passing the 200m. ROYAL FLYING CORPS rolled in approaching the 250m onto ICE STYLE, which rolled in onto SHOUT, which became cramped for galloping room and had to ease for a number strides. Apprentice May, the rider of ICE STYLE, and Jockey Andrews, the rider of ROYAL FLYING CORPS, appeared before the Board and were advised to make more effort to keep their mounts on a straight course in future. SHISHANGENI was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: SIR HENRY - returned not striding out. ELITE JET - returned suffering from an epistaxis and was suspended for 90 days.
