SERGEANT TIBBS and TRIPLE BEAT were slow into stride. MR WINSOME lost one length. SELVAN'S JET was difficult to load. NIGHT SHADOW was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. MR WINSOME became baulked for a number of strides approaching the 300 metre mark, along the outside running rail and was switched in to obtain a clear run. Thereafter approaching the 150 metre mark, a tiring AVARICIOUS, shifted in slightly resulting in MR WINSOME becoming cramped between AVARICIOUS and SPIRIT OF DOVER. AVARICIOUS shifted out slightly approaching the 200 metre mark, resulting in BATTLE HAMMER having to switch out. This resulted in SERGEANT TIBBS having to be eased and thereafter switch in to obtain a clear run. AVARICIOUS compounded in the straight. In view of this, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Jockey Forbes reported that SERGEANT TIBBS took no interest in running. Jockey Dillon reported that he felt something amiss with SEEKING THE DREAM in running. Vet: AVARICIOUS and SEEKING THE DREAM - nothing obvious detected. SERGEANT TIBBS - not striding out right fore. MR WINSOME - abnormal respiratory noise. Scratched: DISCOURSE - injured left hind.
