The start of this Race was delayed due to the withdrawal of SWIZZLE STICK and CHEVALIER which bolted. ROCKET FALLS and DOWN MEXICO WAY were slow into stride. KING ALFRED was slow, losing 2 lengths. The Board reviewed the loading procedure of the start of this race and established that due to a technical fault the gates opened prematurely, which resulted in FORD COUNTRY, PROVE A POINT, ROCKET FALLS and FUSSY BALL jumping and then being restrained by their riders, and SWIZZLE STICK and CHEVALIER bolting and galloping the course, causing a delay to the start of this race. DOWN MEXICO WAY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Smit was questioned regarding the improved performance of DOWN MEXICO WAY. He explained to the Board that in this gelding's last race it had been slow away and lost 6 lengths, was thereafter rushed up to the field and faded in the concluding stages. The Board reviewed the history of DOWN MEXICO WAY and confirmed that it had, in fact, lost 8 lengths in its last start, its starting stalls certificate had been withdrawn as a result thereof and had been suspended for a period of 7 days and until recertified tractable (recertified tractable on 26 October 2015). Consequently, Mr Smit's explanation was noted. Scratched: HOSTILE TAKEOVER - lame right front. SWIZZLE STICK and CHEVALIER - bolted.
