UNANNOUNCED (AUS) was nervous in the stalls. ICEFIRE was slow away and lost 1 to 2 lengths. NORMANZ dislodged Jockey Marcus en route to the start, bolted the course and was withdrawn by the Course Veterinary Surgeon. THE WEST IS WIDE was hanging inwards badly throughout the race and shifted across the course to the inside running rail despite Jockey Strydom's effort to straighten his horse. NOVEMBER RAIN switched to the outside of THE WEST IS WIDE passing the 700 metre mark thereafter was hanging inwards badly and cramped THE WEST IS WIDE for galloping room over the final 200 metres. Both Jockey Strydom and Jockey Turner were brought before the Board shown the patrol film of the race incident and both stated despite their efforts they were unable to keep their mounts on a straight course. ICEFIRE was hanging inwards over the final 400 metres, shifted inwards approaching the 200 metre mark and cramped AL DON CUMARCO and VAUCLAIR for galloping room for several strides. Apprentice Moodley, the rider of ICEFIRE, was brought before the Board shown the patrol film of this incident and advised to take more care in future. AL DON CUMARCO was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: SWIFT WONDER - speedy cut right fore fetlock. FOYLE - bilateral epistaxis suspended for 60 days Scratched: VILLA DEL LARGO - temperature. NORMANZ - bolted and was withdrawn at the start.
