The start of this Race was delayed due to the close proximity of lightning to the racetrack resulting in the horse's leaving the parade ring late. Heavy rain fell prior to and during the running of the 5th Race. CAT IN COMMAND and CELTIC CAPTAIN were both slow into stride. DARK LIABILITY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. GREAT RUMPUS became cramped for a short distance on the inside of CELTIC CAPTAIN near the 1400 metre mark. Jockey Mgudlwa reported that GOLD BANK was not striding out freely in the latter stages. In view of the performance of CELTIC CAPTAIN, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. DARK LIABILITY raced with round bar shoes both fore. Vet: GOLD BANK - severely cut into right hind and not striding out right hind. CELTIC CAPTAIN - nothing obvious detected.
