SILVER SNAFFLES, which was restless in the stalls, jumped awkwardly outwards and made contact with ELUSIVE SILVA. Jockey van Niekerk reported that he felt something amiss with ZUD WES in running and did not persevere with his riding in the straight. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding and submit a report. Assistant trainer Mrs Robinson, acting on behalf of Trainer Bass, was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the gelding's condition on its return to the stables. In view of the performance from WINDBREAK, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding and submit a report. Jockey Cormack reported that ELUSIVE SILVA took no interest in running. BRAAISTIN was hanging in, in the latter stages. BEZAMOD raced wide into the bend and in the straight. SILVER SNAFFLES and TIN SOLDIER were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. OLIMPIC AIRWAYS raced fitted with a tongue tie. Vet: ZUD WES and ELUSIVE SILVA - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected. WINDBREAK - returned not striding out behind.
