CHESTNUT and AMADEO were restless in the stalls. AMADEO HANJI, PURPLE SPLASH, ROYALSECURITYSTAR and JABUTICABA were slow into stride. ROY'S TAXI was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Gadsby was questioned with regard to the improved performance of HANJ, placed second, compared to this gelding's previous performances, all on the polytrack. Mr Gadsby explained that HANJI had raced wide on the bend in his first race, and in his previous performance, in his opinion, he had resented the kickback when racing near the back of the field. He further added that HANJI may be better suited to a turf track and will attempt, where possible, to race this gelding on turf tracks in future. The Board noted his explanation and the future performances of HANJI will be monitored. A tiring JABUTICABA shifted in at approximately the 200 metre mark, carrying JACK THE KNIFE inwards. Thereafter JABUTICABA shifted out carrying KINGS LANDING outwards. ROY'S TAXI shifted out away from the crop in the latter stages. Vet: AMADEO - abnormal respiratory noise. KINGS LANDING - severely cut into right hind. Scratched: LORD CHANCERY - pulled left fore shoulder muscle. UKUBONA - elevated temperature.
