SPEEDBALL, which was restless in the stalls, jumped awkwardly and thereafter was slow into stride. CHISANYAMA, which was restless in the stalls, jumped outwards losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. The start of this race was delayed due to a technical problem in the Judges' Box. In view of the performance from SPEEDBALL, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the filly and submit a report. Jockey van Niekerk was charged with a contravention, in that he used his crop with excessive frequency in the latter stages whilst riding the horse KRYPTONITE. Jockey van Niekerk signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined. QING was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey Marcus rode CHISANYAMA. This change was made in due time with Stewards permission and the mutual agreement of all the connections. Vet: SPEEDBALL - inspected post race and no abnormalities were detected.
