The start of this race was delayed due to the farrier having to replace the right hind shoe of BERMUDA prior to this horse leaving the parade ring. FERDNAND THE BULL, WHISTLING DUCK and BERMUDA were all slow into stride. TEAM GUYS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey de Melo reported that he felt something amiss with FLYING FELLOW in running. In view of the performance of WHISTLING DUCK, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. In view of the performance of LISTEN AND LEARN, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. LISTEN AND LEARN returned post- race having cast the right front shoe. Jockey Randolph signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined for a contravention in that he was unable to weigh out at the carded weight as confirmed in his engagement with the trainer resulting in a change of rider on WHISTLING DUCK. Vet: FLYING FELLOW - not striding out left hind. WHISTLING DUCK and LISTEN AND LEARN - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: PHOEBUS - virus. INVIERNO - Urticaria. PIMPERNEL - not striding out right hind.
