The start of this Race was delayed due to the 30-minute interval between races. MIRROR THE MOON was stubborn loading. Trainer Ferraris was advised to re-school this filly prior to its next engagement. Jockey van der Merwe reported that he felt something amiss with RUBY RUBY in running. ESCUDO had to ease in the concluding stages off the heels of CHRISTMAS CAROL, which shifted out away from the crop. A member of the Stipendiary Board called a race review into this incident. The patrol films of the race were reviewed in the presence of Assistant Trainer Mansour and Jockey Khumalo and it was decided to take no further action. Jockey Maujean signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention in that he, as the rider of CHRISTMAS CAROL, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to ESCUDO when he shifted out at approximately the 50m. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days. CHRISTMAS CAROL was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: RUBY RUBY - examined post race, no significant findings. Scratched: LADY GRACA - retired.
