Following the running of Race 7 concerns were expressed by the riders with regard to certain of the drainage lines on the bend. A panel was formed to inspect the area with representatives from the jockeys and trainers bodies. It was decided to run Race 8 with the horses racing off the inside running rail. TRENDY GUY lost 1 length. CAT IN COMMAND threw his head down as the start was effected, thereafter jumped awkwardly losing 1 length. OLYMPIC BOLT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Apprentice Ngwane has now ridden his 20th winner and will claim a 2.5kg allowance from the end of today's meeting and until the conclusion of the race meeting at which he has ridden his 40th winner. MONTE CHRISTO raced green. Apprentice Storey reported that NITRO NORI was not striding out freely in running. NITRO NORI raced fitted with steels. Vet: NITRO NORI - not striding out left hind. Scratched: FULLY CHARGED - insufficient recovery time. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed. Following the running of the 8th Race the riders again expressed concern as to the continuation of the race meeting with regard to the lines across the track as well as the increase in the field sizes for the remaining two races. After canvassing all the riders who were unanimous that it was unsafe to continue racing, the final two races were abandoned.
