WINTER PRINCE cast the left fore shoe, which the farrier replaced. During the loading process WINTER PRINCE cast the left fore shoe again, all the runners loaded were taken out while the farrier replaced the shoe, causing a delay. ILLUMINATOR jumped awkwardly and thereafter was slow into stride. Apprentice May reported that the felt something amiss with FORWARD DRIVE and it was eased out of the race in the latter stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding on its return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. Trainer Reeves was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the gelding's condition on its return to the stables. ERNIE attempted a narrow run and brushed the hindquarters of PSYCHO SYD, which became momentarily unbalanced approaching the 300m. ERNIE and ILLUMINATOR were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey Khathi rode ILLUMINATOR. This change was made in due time with Stewards permission and with the mutual consent of all the connections. Jockey Andrews rode WESTERN STORM. The Club's Medical Officer stood down Jockey Ashby after he was injured on the way to the start of Race 4. Vet: FORWARD DRIVE - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected.
