GLOBAL ETHOS was awkwardly placed passing the 300m and had to ease between SPAN DIE SEILE and SUPER COMMUTER, which shifted in. An Inquiry will be opened into the reasons as to why GLOBAL ETHOS had to ease and switch out passing the 300m. SUPER COMMUTER was intimidated in the concluding stages and carried out by SPAN DIE SEILE, which shifted out away from crop. An Objection was lodged by Assistant Trainer van Zyl on behalf of the 2nd placed horse, SUPER COMMUTER, against the winner, SPAN DIE SEILE, on the grounds of intimidation in the concluding stages. The Objection Board, after giving regard to the evidence put forward by the connections of both horses and reviewing the patrol films of the race, was of the opinion that SUPER COMMUTER would have finished ahead of SPAN DIE SEILE had this incident not occurred and therefore upheld the Objection and amended the Judges result. NIGHT ON THE HILL had to ease at the 250m off the heels of RUSSIAN STAR, which shifted out marginally. Jockey Little was charged with a contravention in that he, as the rider of RUSSIAN STAR, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to NIGHT ON THE HILL at the 250m. Jockey Little signed an Admission of Guilt and a penalty of a Warning was imposed. SPAN DIE SEILE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
