VIVACIOUS LADY was slow losing two lengths. HONOLUA BAY stumbled for a number of strides shortly after the start, thereafter HONOLUA BAY commenced to hang in from the 400m. In view of the performance of HONOLUA BAY, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer Stenger was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of this filly on return to stables. LA MANGA was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. When questioned regarding the improved performance of this filly, Trainer Ferreira told the Stewards that the shorter distance of today's race and the fact that she was equipped with cheek pieces had accounted for the improvement. Trainer Ferreira was advised to race this filly in a similar fashion in future. Vet: HONOLUA BAY - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. MUSKOGEE - coughing. LAVENDER GIRL - coughing and scalped right hind.
