KINGS DIAMOND lost one length and thereafter was slow into stride. SAMBORA lost two lengths. ROMAN SOCIETY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. ROMAN SOCIETY shifted out approaching the 200 metre mark, resulting in JUST POSITIVE having to be eased for a number of strides. ROMAN SOCIETY continued to shift out slightly brushing ROY'S EXPRESS at approximately the 100 metre mark. Thereafter WHIRL AWAY LAD shifted out slightly making contact with and unbalancing ROMAN SOCIETY shortly before the finish. An Inquiry will be held into this incident. A race review was called into the above incidents by a member of the Stipendiary Board which was followed by an Objection lodged by Jockey Delpech on behalf of ROY'S EXPRESS, joint second placed horse, against ROMAN SOCIETY, the winner, on the grounds of interference in the latter stages. After considering the evidence and the distance between these two horses, the Board was of the opinion that ROY'S EXPRESS would not have beaten ROMAN SOCIETY. The Objection was over-ruled and the Judge's result was allowed to stand. The deposit was refunded. PAMPAS shifted inwards to obtain a clear run approaching the 150 metre mark. Jockey Yeni reported that WHIRL AWAY LAD was changing legs continuously in running. Shortly after the finish of the 3rd Race, Jockey Delpech appeared to make contact with Jockey de Melo. Jockey de Melo and Jockey Delpech were interviewed separately by the Stipendiary Board with regard to this incident. Jockey de Melo explained that he had been nudged by Jockey Delpech, who whilst nudging him advised him that he was objecting against him. This was confirmed by Jockey Delpech in his evidence. The Board after reviewing this incident concurred that it was a slight nudge with no malicious intention on Jockey Delpech's part. Jockey Delpech was however advised to refrain from making any contact with any rider during and after a Race. Vet: ORACLE KINGDOM - girth rub both sides. WHIRL AWAY LAD - cut into right hind. Scratched: OMEGA ONSLAUGHT, IT'S THE ANSWER, DALE HOUSE, MAJIX and STORMATIC - change of venue.
