READYTOGORIGHTNOW (AUS) was slow into stride. KING JACE was slow away and lost 2 lengths. The start of this race was delayed due to RED BARREL having spread its left fore shoe en route to the start, which was attended to by the Course Farrier. Jockey Kennedy reported that he felt something amiss with KING JACE in the running. Jockey van der Merwe reported ROMEO BRAVO was not striding out freely in the running. Jockey Khumalo reported that he felt something amiss with BROOKLYN BRAWLER in the running and did not persevere with his ride in the closing stages. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine and found nothing untoward. Assistant Trainer McLachlan was requested to monitor this gelding over the next 48 hours and report back anything untoward to the Stipendiary Board. ETERNAL JET was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey Munger signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined for a contravention, read with Guideline C on the use of the crop, in that he struck the horse ETERNAL JET more than three times on consecutive strides. Vet: KING JACE and BROOKLYN BRAWLER - checked post race, nothing obvious detected. ETERNAL JET - speedy cut right hind coronet. ROMEO BRAVO - not striding out behind. Scratched: SWEDISH KING - cast in box.
