The start of the 8th Race was slightly delayed due to DREAMY FOREST having to have his tongue tie replaced. MASTER SAM broke through the stalls, restrained by Jockey Lerena, checked by the Veterinary Surgeon and reloaded. STARCRAFT PRINCE (AUS) was restless in the stalls. RED RED RUBY lost 3 lengths. ROY'S POWER, HIGHLAND FLING and YURIES GOLD all lost 1 length. A P STRIKE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey Lerena reported that he felt something amiss with MASTER SAM in the latter stages. Apprentice Habib, the rider of PEARL EMBLEM, and Jockey Delpech, the rider of ROY'S GUL GUL HA, reported their respective mounts took no interest in running. Due to the performance of RED RED RUBY, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. DREAMY FOREST was hanging in throughout. STARCRAFT PRINCE (AUS) was momentarily cramped for galloping room at approximately the 650 metre mark. SEMONKONG returned post-race having cast the left hind shoe. CORRESOLVE did not race with his tongue tied down. Vet: MASTER SAM - nothing obvious detected. PEARL EMBLEM - not striding out left fore. ROY'S GUL GUL HA and RED RED RUBY - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: ARGO'S JET - unsuited to the soft underfoot track conditions. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed.
