SUPER SONIC (AUS) lost two lengths. SILLY SANTA was squeezed out shortly after the start, losing position. HANJI was slow into stride. NAPOLI was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. ETON stumbled shortly after the start. ETON shifted in shortly after the start, carrying LEONARD, who was over-racing, inwards resulting in ROY'S SAILOR being carried in and having to be eased off the heels of LEONARD. As a result MAMBO had to be eased off the heels of ROY'S SAILOR. Thereafter LEONARD was pulling hard in the early stages and was difficult to restrain. An Inquiry will be held into this incident. ROY'S SAILOR over-raced in the early stages. ETON compounded over the final 800 metres. In view of this, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. IMPACT ZONE shifted both ways from the crop over the final 250 metres. Jockey Cele reported that SILLY SANTA was making an abnormal respiratory noise. Jockey Jupp reported that HANJI took no interest in running. LEONARD returned post race having cast the left fore shoe. Jockey Jacobson, the rider of NAPOLI, appeared before the Board and was spoken to with regard to his use of the crop in the latter stages. Vet: SILLY SANTA - fatigued and abnormal respiratory noise. HANJI - coughing post race. ROY'S SAILOR - badly cut into right hind. ETON and SANDTON PLAY BOY - moderate post race distress.
