The start of this Race was delayed due to the delay in the previous race. BEZANOVA was slow into stride. Apprentice Thackeray was dislodged from MAJESTIC BAY approaching the 200m, when it was impeded by ZAMBEZI RIVER, which broke down, dislodging Jockey Khumalo. Thereafter FOREST FOX was carried out by PRINCE OF ORANGE, which took evasive action to avoid ZAMBEZI RIVER, which had fallen. Simultaneously AMSTERDAM was impeded by the fallen horse. Thereafter Apprentice Murray did not persevere with his riding. FOREST FOX was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. When questioned regarding the improved performance of FOREST FOX, Trainer Peter explained to the Board that the addition of cheek pieces to this gelding's equipment, the light weight of 52kg and the prevailing good to soft track conditions had accounted for the improvement. His explanation was noted. Vet: ZAMBEZI RIVER - fractured left front sesamoids. Humanely euthanased. Sample collected for analysis.
