Jockey Strydom and Jockey Simons did not ride at today's racemeeting (medically indisposed). They were replaced on their mounts. BLUE SAGE lost one length. Jockey Delpech reported that ETERNAL FIRE did not stride out freely in running. In view of the performance of TRICIA DUPONT, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer Goosen was requested to report back on the condition of this filly on return to stables. QUEEN OF ARTS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. When questioned regarding the improved performance of QUEEN OF ARTS, Trainer Erasmus explained to the Board that in this filly's run on the 31st of December 2015, the Jockey had reported her to be not striding out freely and in her run on the 19th of January 2016, she had refused to jump. He could offer the board no suitable explanation for today's performance. Trainer Erasmus's attention was drawn to rules pertaining to In and Out running and was advised that this filly's future performances would be monitored. Vet: ETERNAL FIRE - abnormal respiratory noise. TRICIA DUPONT - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. RUSSIAN FRIEND - coughing. CAPTURED QUALITY - abnormal respiratory noise and mild respiratory distress. Scratched: TENNESSEE RED - lame left front.
