RED MOON AT NIGHT jumped awkwardly losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. PROVENANCE was restless in the stalls. The start of this race was delayed due to the delay in Race 4. STAR ACADEMY was hanging out from the 200m and had to be straightened. Apprentice van der Hoven reported that he felt something amiss with HOT AFFAIR in running. Jockey Fayd'Herbe reported that PROVENANCE was hanging in throughout and was not striding out from the 400m and as a result did not persevere with his riding. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly on her return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. Trainer Snaith was questioned regarding the performance of PROVENANCE. The only explanation Trainer Snaith could offer was that both times that he had fitted this filly with blinkers she had run disappointingly. Trainer Snaith has undertaken to report back to the Board should he find anything untoward with this filly on her return to the stables and has been advised to race this filly without blinkers in future. In view of the performance from QUEEN AT WAR, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly on her return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. MONEY SURGER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: HOT AFFAIR, PROVENANCE and QUEEN AT WAR - examined post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected. Scratched: COSMIC CHARM - swollen right front leg.
