FOREST FOX was slow losing one length. DANZA over-raced in the early stages. DANTE'S LEGACY was carried out at approximately the 200m by HYAKU, which was carried out by DANZA, which was hanging out. Jockey Wrogemann reported that AMERICAN STORM took no interest in running. BULLETING HOME spread its left front shoe in running. FAH FEE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey Zechner was charged with a contravention in that he failed to ride the horse DANTE'S LEGACY out to the end of the race. Jockey Zechner signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined. When assessing this penalty, the Board was of the opinion that Jockey Zechner had not prejudiced his chances of obtaining fifth place; however he was in contravention of the rules pertaining. Vet: AMERICAN STORM - not striding out right front. After the running of race 2, a severe electrical thunderstorm moved in over Turffontein Racecourse which caused a delay to the running of Race 3. After a delay of more than an hour and a further 10mm of rain, a track inspection was carried out by a panel comprising Stipendiary Stewards, a Veterinary Surgeon, the Phumelela Raceday Representative, a Trainer, a Jockey and the Course Manager, it was established that there was surface water between the 800m and 600m and it was the unanimous decision to abandon races 3 to 9 due to unsafe underfoot conditions. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked and their identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed. Several Jockeys and Apprentices were selected for breathalyser tests and the taking of urine samples for analysis.
