THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO THE DELAY IN THE PREVIOUS RACE AS WELL AS THE LATE SCRATCHING OF BEND THE KNEE BY THE COURSE VETERINARY SURGEON.
BRAVESTARR (R Simons) and FOR FRANCE (R Danielson) were slow into stride.
ATTENTIVE (S Brown) was slow losing one length.
At approximately the 1200m, ROOIPOORT (P Strydom) had to steady and switch out to avoid running onto the heels of CUSTOM MADE (C Bantam) which became unbalanced when taking an awkward stride after making contact with the inside running rail.
Jockey R Simons reported that he felt something amiss with BRAVESTARR in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
Jockey P Strydom reported that he felt something amiss with ROOIPOORT in running and did not persevere with his riding from the 400m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
Jockey C Maujean reported that he felt something amiss with WESTERN PARK in running and did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
In view of the performance of CHAMPINGATTHEBIT (S Khumalo) (distance 6,00 lengths, betting 2/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning WESTERN PARK and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended from racing for a period of sixty days in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Assistant Trainer C Machaeli advised.
SECRET GLIDER (*N Klink), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer T van Rensburg advised (LN).
CUSTOM MADE was ridden by Jockey C Bantam who weighed out at 53,9kg, 1,5kg over the carded weight of which 1kg was declared. (Jockey D De Gouveia - transport problems).
