BORDERED IN GREY was very stubborn loading. OXFORD UNION was nervous in the stalls. SAMHAAN (AUS) was slow away and lost 2 lengths. In view of the Starter's report concerning BORDERED IN GREY, the starting stalls certificate is withdrawn and is to be recertified tractable prior to racing. Jockey Danielson reported TELL THE TALE was not striding out freely in the running. SAMHAAN (AUS) was hanging in from the 300 metre mark, brushed the inside running rail at the 120 metre mark and struck his crop against the rail and dropped his crop. Jockey van Niekerk reported that he felt something amiss with WHITE CHRISTMAS in the running. IMPERIAL VELVET switched outwards approaching the 300 metre mark for a run to the outside of THE CAT simultaneously, OXFORD UNION shifted inwards, carried BORDERED IN GREY inwards, THE CAT shifted outwards, which closed the gap and IMPERIAL VELVET was forced to check off the heels of THE CAT and BORDERED IN GREY became cramped and eased. A race review was called into this incident. Jockey Zackey, the rider of the 3rd placed horse, IMPERIAL VELVET, lodged an Objection against the winner, THE CAT, and the 2nd placed horse, OXFORD UNION, on the grounds of interference. After viewing the patrol films of this incident and hearing evidence from the parties concerned the Board overruled the Objection and left the judges placings to stand. The Objection fee was refunded. THE CAT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey Herholdt was stood down by the Course Medical Officer after the running of this race "dehydration". Vet: TELL THE TALE - checked post race, nothing obvious detected. IMPERIAL VELVET - speedy cut right fore outer carpus. OXFORD UNION - blood in mouth. WHITE CHRISTMAS - not striding out left hind. WOW HOLIDAY (ARG) - speedy cut left hind out fetlock. Scratched: CAPTAIN QUICK - injured. WOGSY - not striding out behind, withdrawn at the start by the Course Veterinary Surgeon.
