LORD KATAWA, ELUSIVE ELEGANCE, VOX POPULI and NEW DEAL were slow into stride. WAY PAST MIDNIGHT dislodged Jockey Zackey en route to the start, bolted was caught and cleared fit to race by the Course Veterinary Surgeon. Jockey Zackey was cleared fit to continue riding by the Course Medical Officer. ROYAL SPITFIRE was hanging inwards over the final 200 metres. Jockey Zechner reported ELUSIVE ELEGANCE and Jockey Munger reported DESERT THUNDER were not striding out freely in the running. Jockey Herholdt reported that he felt something amiss with NO REPRIEVE in the running. Jockey van Niekerk reported that he felt something amiss with VOX POPULI in the running. NABUCCO was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Sham was questioned regarding the improved performance of NABUCCO compared to this gelding's last run on the 26/02/201. Trainer Sham explained that this gelding's previous race was a poor run, it was equipped with blinkers for the first time which resulted in this gelding pulling in the early stages and not running on at the finish. Today NABUCCO returned to form. The Board noted this explanation and advised Trainer Sham to continue racing this gelding without blinkers in future. DESERT THUNDER raced with a tongue tie. Vet: ELUSIVE ELEGANCE - uneven in front. DESERT THUNDER - abnormal respiratory noise. NO REPRIEVE - checked post race, nothing obvious detected. VOX POPULI - short in front.
