There was a delay to the start of the 2nd Race as a result of an electrical fault resulting in the starting gates failing to open. All horses were unloaded from the starting stalls and the gates re-tested in order for a manual start to be effected. LADY OF KILDARE was difficult to load. Assistant Trainer Steyn advised to re-school this mare. CAT IN COMMAND was slow into stride. SPIRIT OF DOVER lost 1 length. CAT IN COMMAND was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Due to the performance of TEAM GUYS (AUS), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. CAPEL TOP (ARG) over-raced in the early stages. A tiring TEAM GUYS (AUS) was forced to steady at approximately the 250 metre mark between LADY OF KILDARE and CAT IN COMMAND. Thereafter CAT IN COMMAND, who was hanging in badly, and NICKLAUS (BRZ), who was hanging out, resulted in LADY OF KILDARE being brushed between the 150 and 100 metre marks. A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary Board into the closing stages and after reviewing the patrol videos from the various angles took no further action. Jockey Lerena reported that of MACKDESI (AUS) was making an abnormal respiratory noise in running. Vet: TEAM GUYS (AUS) - nothing obvious detected. MACKDESI (AUS) - nothing obvious detected.
