THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO BRAVE DEPUTY REARING UP AND OVER INTO THE ADJACENT STALL. BRAVE DEPUTY WAS REMOVED, CHECKED BY THE COURSE VETERINARY SURGEON AND SUBSEQUENTLY SCRATCHED. MAY AS WELL (S Brown) was slow losing 2 lengths. During the loading process BRAVE DEPUTY (J Penny) became restless and reared badly dislodging the Jockey. BRAVE DEPUTY was removed from the stalls, examined by the Course Veterinary Surgeon and scratched due to an injury. The starting stall certificate for this gelding has been withdrawn. Trainer G M Alexander advised. In view of the Starter's report with regard to BRAVE DEPUTY, this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable loading with a companion. Suspension dates: 03/08/20 to the 09/08/20. BRAVE DEPUTY may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer G M Alexander advised. In view of the performance of THE TIME IS NOW (C Murray), (distance 8,00 lengths, betting 5/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. IN BUSSUM (C Storey) changed stride continuously in running, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. In the concluding stages FAST DRAW (C Zackey) and BRAVO ONE (R Simons) were tightened for galloping room between EL ROMIACHI (P Strydom) which hung out and CALL ME MASTER (D Schwarz) which was carried in by DUKE OF GOLD (S Khumalo) which shifted in away from crop. DUKE OF GOLD (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A G Laird advised (LN). MAY AS WELL Jockey S Brown weighed out at 57,7kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight. ULTIMATE WARRIOR raced with club colours (blue and black). Trainer C Dawson was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that she did not have available the registered colours of the owner/s of the gelding ULTIMATE WARRIOR. Trainer C Dawson signed an Admission of Guilt and a penalty of a Warning was imposed. THE VET: IN BUSSUM examined post race, nothing obvious detected. THE TIME IS NOW not striding out right front ULTIMATE WARRIOR brush wound right front. SCRATCHED: BRAVE DEPUTY injured in stalls (NHA / 14H01) (Rule 53.5 applies).
