PORTMAN SQUARE lost one length. GILDED WARRIOR was slow into stride. WINTER SOLDIER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Nassif was questioned with regard to the improved performance of WINTER SOLDIER, compared to this gelding's previous performances. Mr Nassif attributed the improvement shown, in his opinion, to this gelding is being suited to the polytrack surface. The explanation was noted and the future performances of WINTER SOLDIER will be monitored. TOBLARON, over-racing, shifted out approaching the 1200 metre mark resulting in PORTMAN SQUARE becoming cramped and having to be eased. NUNTIUS was hanging out in the straight. TOBLARON was not persevered with over the final 300 metres. In view of this, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. In view of the performance of ESCOVITCH, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. NUNTIUS returned post race having cast the left fore shoe. Jockey Jordaan signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined for a contravention in that, as the rider of WHAT A SCORCHER, he used his crop in an unnecessary manner by hitting this colt with excessive frequency in the straight. Vet: TOBLARON - not striding out left hind. ESCOVITCH - not striding out right fore and abnormal respiratory noise. Scratched: IN THE MOMENT - no transport.
