NIGHT LOCK, DHAAMER and FRENCH MARK lost one length. TANJIRO became unbalanced leaving the stalls resulting in Jockey Delpech being dislodged. TANJIRO became fractious as the start was effected resulting in the handler attending to this gelding being slow to release him. This caused TANJIRO to become unbalanced leaving the stalls, and dislodging Jockey Delpech. As a result of the handler being slow to release TANJIRO and he was declared a non-runner. Apprentice Hewitson, the rider of STRATEGIC'S PRIDE, had a satisfactory qualifying ride. NIGHT LOCK was forced to race wide between the 1600 and 1300 metre marks to avoid the rider-less horse. The rider-less TANJIRO shifted out near the 1400 metre mark, resulting in FRENCH MARK being forced to check and TAYAAR racing wide for a number of strides. Jockey Kennedy reported that DHAAMER took no interest in running. DHAAMER raced wide over the first 600 metres of the Race as result of the rider-less TANJIRO racing to his inside. Jockey Kennedy, the rider of DHAAMER, appeared before the Board with regard to his riding in this Race. He explained that he raced wide over the first 600 metres of this Race to avoid being involved in an incident with the loose horse that was striking the rail, racing into the back of horses, and shifting ground at this stage of the Race. He further explained that he felt something amiss with this gelding from the early stages of the Race and as a result he did not persevere with his ride thereafter. In view of the circumstances and the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning DHAAMER, the Board was satisfied and no further action was taken. Vet: TAYAAR - coughing and not striding out right hind.
