LUMIERE and RECONNAISSANCE were nervous in the stalls. CASUAL WEAR, THE CARPENTER and BASILICA SANTO were slow into stride. Jockey W Agrella reported that EVERMORE did not stride out freely in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. When questioned regarding his riding of RECONNAISSANCE in the early stages, Jockey T Gould told the Stewards that his horse jumped awkwardly making light contact with WILD MOVE (K Steyn) and then raced awkwardly after this. The gelding then commenced to overrace and raced awkwardly on the bend. This prevented him from racing in a leading position as per his instructions. TIGER STAR (*Y Ramzan) showed a tendency to hang outwards and shifted outwards away from the crop approaching the 200m. Apprentice Y Ramzan was advised to be more aware when his mounts commence to shift ground and to take the necessary remedial measures. When questioned regarding his riding of BASILICA SANTO, Jockey S Fortune told the Stewards that from a wide draw he had been content to race from a trailing position as the pace was honest in the early and middle stages. After straightening he had intended to make his run between ANGEL BOUQUET (L Mxothwa) and THE CARPENTER (J Mariba) but had to direct BASILICA SANTO outwards when THE CARPENTER commenced to shift out under pressure. After making his run on the outside of ANGEL BOUQUET, BASILICA SANTO had finished the race off strongly, his explanation was noted. The winner TIGER STAR was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Assistant Trainer C Hewitson acting on behalf of Trainer Y Bremner advised (LM). HUMANITARIAN raced equipped with blinkers and a tongue tie (07:43 - 03/08/2020). CASUAL WEAR Jockey J King replaced Jockey E Webber (12:30 - 03/08/2020). CLOUD ATLAS Jockey S Khathi carried 0.5 Kg overweight, weighed out at 60.1 Kgs. BASILICA SANTO Jockey S Fortune carried 0.5 Kg overweight, weighed out at 52.9 Kgs. VET: ANGEL BOUQUET blood in in mouth. MICROBE coughed post-race. EVERMORE nothing obvious detected. SCRATCHINGS: THE GREEK SOLDIER, FURLA and SEATTLE MERMAID reserve runners (08:15 - 03/08/2020).
