SARK and LUKE'S LEGACY were nervous in the stalls. OMAHA TRIBE was slow away and lost 1 length. HOPEFUL and OASIS QUEEN were slow into stride. At approximately the 250m, Jockey S Naidoo (AT THE OFFICE) briefly dropped his right-side rein. Jockeys S Naidoo (AT THE OFFICE) and S Devoy (OMAHA TRIBE) reported that their respective mounts did not stride out freely in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Jockey W Agrella signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck the horse QUEST more than 12 times in the entire race (sixteen (16) times). A penalty of a warning was imposed. Trainer J V A Strydom signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 11.2.8 in that he presented KING CAPONE to race with alumite shoes in front and not with a full set of alumites as carded. This required the Course Farrier to fit the alumites before the running of this race. A penalty of a R2500 fine was imposed. The winner ICE BARON was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Assistant Trainer A C Smith acting on behalf of Trainer G D Smith advised (LM). OASIS QUEEN Jockey L Mxothwa replaced Jockey E Webber (15:15 - 03/08/2020). OASIS QUEEN Jockey L Mxothwa carried 0.5 Kg overweight, weighed out at 54.9 Kgs. QUEST Jockey W Agrella carried 0.5 Kg overweight, weighed out at 58.8 Kgs. VET: AT THE OFFICE nothing obvious detected. KING CAPONE cast left hind shoe. OMAHA TRIBE not striding out right fore.
