FORMAL REQUEST proved reluctant to proceed to the start and had to be led, causing a delay to the start of this race. FORMAL REQUEST was reluctant to proceed to the start and had to be led. Trainer Gray was advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future, it may be suspended. RESPECTABLE RULER stumbled shortly after the start, and Jockey Yeni reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding in running. WOTTAHOTTIE was carried out shortly after the start by AL LUNAM, which rolled out. Jockey Sturgeon reported that he felt something amiss with OCULUS in running. Jockey Khumalo reported that ALEUT changed stride continually in running and did not persevere with his ride from the 400m. Jockey van der Merwe reported that EXPLORACY did not stride out freely in running. RAFEEF (AUS) was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: OCULUS and ALEUT - coughing. RESPECTABLE RULER and EXPLORACY - examined post race, no significant findings. Scratched: SANDS OF TIME - change of stables. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked and their identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed. Several Jockeys and Apprentices were selected for breathalyser tests and the taking of urine samples for analysis.
