LADY MARSHALL was nervous in the stalls. MISS LECTURE and MESMERISING MELODY were slow into stride. LADY MARSHALL and SEVENTH MISSION were pulling in the early stages. Apprentice Thabana, the rider of GAUTENG (ARG) and Apprentice Ramsamy, the rider of MESMERISING MELODY, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely in the running. Jockey Claassen reported that he felt something amiss with GUEST OF HONOUR in the running and did not persevere with his ride over the final 150 metres. Jockey Gould reported that he felt something amiss with MISS LECTURE in the running and did not persevere with his ride from the 300m mark. Jockey Webber, the rider of KALAHARI QUEEN dropped his crop passing the 50 metre mark. ROSE AND CROWN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: ETERNAL WINTER - abnormal respiratory noise, not striding out behind. GUEST OF HONOUR - short right fore. SEVENTH MISSION - fatigued. GAUTENG (ARG) - abnormal respiratory noise, fatigued.
