OLI MIRANDA jumped awkwardly losing three lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. VOLTERRA raced in Club Colours. AWESOME EFFECT was carried out slightly by LOUISIANA, which was switched out to continue her run at the 300m. When questioned regarding the improved performance from DARK CHOCOLATE today, compared to the filly's previous race on 2 April 2016, over 1200m at Kenilworth, when she finished 13.40 lengths behind the winner, Trainer Nel told the Stewards that his stable had performed below expectations in early April and although this horse had been thoroughly examined on her return to the stable she had shown no significant abnormalities. It was also his opinion that she is better suited to the 1400m compared to the 1200m. The Board reviewed the patrol films of the filly's previous race and it was evident that she had given ground quickly in the latter stages, the Board however was satisfied that DARK CHOCOLATE was ridden and raced on merit. DARK CHOCOLATE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: VOLTERRA - returned speedy cut on the left hind.
