GREY LIGHT lost one length. MARK MY CARD was slow into stride. MAYFAIR was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey Dillon, the rider of GREY LIGHT, accidentally dropped his crop at approximately the 100 metre mark. In view of the performances of WANDIE'S, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Assistant Trainer van Wyk and Apprentice Ballloo, assisted by the Riding Master Mr Wynne, were questioned with regard to the running and riding of SILVER INSPIRATION in this Race. Assistant Trainer van Wyk explained that his instructions were for Apprentice Balloo to race this filly from a handy position and to ask her for an effort in the straight as late as possible to ensure that she runs on at the finish. Apprentice Balloo confirmed these instructions and he was reminded of his obligation to ask horses he rides for an effort so as to allow them to win or obtain their best possible placing. The Board noted that although SILVER INSPIRATION jumped on terms, she was thereafter slow into stride and as a result raced further back in the field than intended. The Board was satisfied that SILVER INSPIRATION was raced and ridden on merit. MARK MY CARD was hanging out in the latter stages. Vet: WANDIE'S - fatigued. SILVER INSPIRATION - coughing.
