The start of this Race was delayed due to STEVEDORE having to be resaddled. CAPTAINS CUP and STEVEDORE came together shortly after the start and bumped. Jockey van der Merwe, the rider of ONE COOL CAT, and Jockeys Ndlovu, the rider of STEVEDORE, reported that their respective mounts did not stride out freely in running. SPEED LIGHTNING was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: ONE COOL CAT - examined post race, no significant findings. BEEZ BROTHER - coughing. STEVEDORE - not striding out both front. After the running of Race 2 a track inspection was conducted by the NHA Veterinary Surgeon, Stipendiary Stewards, Trainers and Jockeys and it was established that there was wet patch at the 1300m. It was decided to delay the running of Race 3 and allow the Track Manager time to rectify the problem. A further track inspection was conducted at 14h00, all parties were satisfied that the track was raceable and the remaining race times rescheduled.
