SHEPHERDS PURSE was slow losing four lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. Trainer Steyn will be advised to have this gelding re-schooled before its next engagement. THIS IS SPARTA was slow losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. In view of the performance from SUB ZERO, which pulled hard in the early stages, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding on its return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. ELYSIAN PARK pulled hard in the early stages. PRINCE OF EDEN was held up for a clear run approaching the 150m. BELCOURT CASTLE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. KEEP ON CHOOGLIN raced fitted with a tongue tie. Vet: SUB ZERO - returned making an abnormal respiratory noise. THIS IS SPARTA - returned having cast the left fore shoe. Scratched: RESPECTABLE REBEL - coughing. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed, as per normal procedure.
