SINGSINGH (*J Gates) and GINGER ALLEY (S Randolph) were stubborn to load. Trainers W Whitehead and R Hill were advised to re-school their respective geldings. MONSOON (G Wright) was stubborn to load and restless in the stalls. Trainer S Humby will be advised to re-school this gelding. SILVANO'S TIMER (K de Melo) lost 1 length. GINGER ALLEY (S Randolph) raced green. BOLD SURREY (A Arries) raced wide on the latter part of the bend. Jockey R Fourie appeared before the Board with regard to his ride on GLOUCESTERSHIRE in the straight. Jockey Fourie explained that he felt that this colt had been under pressure to maintain the fast pace that prevailed in the early and middle stages of the race. Thereafter, shortly before entering the straight and early in the straight, he had asked GLOUCESTERSHIRE for an effort by riding him with his hands. There was no response and his colt's head dropped, so he softened his ride thereafter. This explanation was confirmed after viewing the patrol video. However, Jockey Fourie was advised to ride with sufficient vigour in future, so as to leave no room for query from the Stewards. In view of the performance of GLOUCESTERSHIRE (R Fourie) (16.10 lengths) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. PURPLE POWAHOUSE (L Hewitson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Wright advised (TN). PURPLE POWAHOUSE raced without blinkers (advised 12.08.20/06h53). STAR OVER CAPETOWN raced with cheek pieces (advised 12.08.20/07h35). SINGSINGH raced without ear muffs (advised 12.08.20/07h56). MONSOON was ridden by Jockey G Wright (advised 12.08.20/08h18).
