FLASH FIRE was slow into stride. MALEFICENT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. ARISSA raced wide throughout. Jockey Strydom reported that he felt something amiss with ORIENTAL OAK as a result did not persevere with his ride over the final 300 metres. QUERARI FALCON shifted in away from the crop at approximately the 200 metre mark, which resulted in this filly being steadied off the heels of MALEFICENT at approximately the 50 metre mark. Jockey Zechner, the rider of QUERARI FALCON, appeared before the Board with regard to this incident and was advised to take stronger measures to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in races in future. Jockey Randolph signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined for a contravention, in that he misused his crop by striking FINAL JUDGEMENT forward of the saddle in the latter stages. The Medical Officer reported that Jockey Lerena stood down after the running of this Race with acute back pain. Vet: ORIENTAL OAK - coughing.
