As the last horse was being loaded into the stalls, the gates opened prematurely for no apparent reason, causing the horses already loaded to jump out. A false start was called by the Starter and all riders restrained their horses approximately 300m from the starting gates, returned to the start, the horses were checked by the Veterinary Surgeon, declared fit to race and reloaded. This caused a delay to the start of this race. The start of Race 2 was effected manually. REGGAE POET was restless in the stalls, jumped awkwardly and lost 3 lengths. The Board reviewed the start of this race with regard to REGGAE POET in stall gate number 10 and established that this gelding was nervous, had jumped awkwardly and lost 3 lengths. REGGAE POET was declared a runner. Jockey Munger reported that he felt something amiss with REGGAE POET in running and did not persevere with his ride from the 400m. CHAROCK was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. JAMAICANMINALOUSHE raced in Club colours with the Stewards permission. INTERNATIONALFLING raced equipped with alumite shoes in front, unshod behind. Vet: REGGAE POET - lame right front. Scratched: BEANSTALK - lame right hind.
