ROYAL REWARD (*Y Ramzan) brushed the front gate. FAIRY GODMOTHER (T Gould) was nervous in the stalls. LAW AND ORDER (D R Lerena) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. QUERENCIA (E Webber) was bumped shortly after the start. LAW AND ORDER (D R Lerena) over-raced in the early stages. Jockey S Naidoo reported that FLY MISS KIM did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. At approximately the 1000m, NEVERLETUGO (K Steyn) which commenced to over-race, had to steady and switch out to avoid running onto the heels of FAIRY GODMOTHER (T Gould). In the concluding stages, VALERIANA was carried outwards by BLUE DUCHESS which closed the race off strongly and shifted out away from the crop when just not clear. Jockey W Agrella appeared before the Board and was advised to provide sufficient clearance to other runners before shifting ground in races. Jockey K Steyn signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck the horse NEVERLETUGO more than twelve times in the entire race. The Board imposed a penalty of a fine of R1000. BLUE DUCHESS (W Agrella), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G D Smith advised (LM). QUERENCIA raced without cheek pieces and equipped with blinkers (declared 12 August 2020 at 09H53). LAW AND ORDER raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind (declared 6 August 2020 at 13H21). DUNE DANCE Jockey S Khathi weighed out at 60,2kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight. VET: SILVER FOUNTAIN coughing. QUERENCIA abnormal respiratory noise. FLY MISS KIM examined post race, nothing obvious detected. DUNE DANCE blood in mouth, coughing, speedy cut left front.
